Garmin 430 - Autopilot and ND don't seem to use it

Hi all - ok so, namely rotorsim :)

I'm trying to use the stock X-Plane 430 for nav. But no matter what I program the needile always points the same direction (just south of east). I've tried programming a route, and setting a direct waypint (this all works in other aircraft I've used with the 430)
Also the autopilot doesn't follow it

I'm setting the source to NMI and autopilot to Nav.
ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Ah - because I was using the co-pilot 430!
