FCDS (Flight Control Display System)

The flight Control Display System consists of a PFD (Primary Flight Display), a ND (Navigation Display) and an ICP (Instrument Control Panel). The following figures show typical displays of PFD and ND in HSI Mode and Sector Mode

The navigation sources displayed on the HSI or in Sector Mode are shown in the following colours: cyan for VOR or NMS, magenta for ILS, amber for an unusual combination and red for an inactive source.

Displays are controlled by the Instrument Control Panel (ICP). There are separate ICPs for piltot's and co-pilot's side.

  • Zoom out (Sector Mode, this is synchronized for pilot and co-pilot)
  • Zoom in (Sector Mode, this is synchronized for pilot and co-pilot)
  • PFD Toggles PFD's Composite Mode
  • ND Toggles ND's HSI Mode and Sector Mode
  • NAV SOURCE Changes navigation source: VOR1/ILS1, VOR2/ILS2, NMS (GPS)
  • Needle to ADF1 or VOR1
  • Needle to ADF2 or VOR2
  • EXT Displays external sources on the ND
  • DH Rheostat Decision Height
  • CRS Course Bug
  • BARO Rheostat Barometric Pressure (Altimeter)
  • POS Pitch Reference Artificial Horizon
  • TST Performs a radio altimeter test. As long as the button is held down, the radio altimeter displays an altitude of 50 m (or 100 m if configured accordingly) AGL.
  • STD Sets the barometric pressure for the altimeter to standard atmosphere.

Composite Mode and Cross Side Mode

In Composite Mode, the PFD displays a strip below the artificial horizon with the most important information from the ND. Composite Mode is automatically activated when the ND is turned off or an external source is selected. It can also be manually activated and deactivated using the PFD button. If an MFD is installed on the copilot side instead of a PFD and an ND, composite mode is not available there.

If an ILS is set on both the pilot and co-pilot radios, the displays automatically switch to Cross Side Mode. Unlike Composite Mode, the data from the other ND is displayed instead of the  own ND. Cross Side Mode is also available on the MFD.

External Sources

The following external sources can be displayed on NDs: weahter radar (if installed), AviTab map (only in ), FLIR (if installed). Press EXT to display an external source. If multiple external sources are available, each press of EXT switches to the next available source. Press ND to quit EXT mode.
