I do not know if this helps but I have a way of making USL flying at least useable.
I have many thousands of hours sling work in the real world and now a hundred or so with the EC135 in the sim and this is what I do:
I have a button on the cyclic that has a two-way movement that is assigned to show the “3-D cockpit” view in the up direction and the “Go to save 3-D cockpit location 1” in the down direction. (“The 3-D cockpit location 1” is an external view from a point just a little below the helicopter and far enough back so you can see the helicopter and the load.) It is important that the change of view is instantaneous.
Then when flying, whenever in real life I would have looked in the mirrors I flick the switch down, holding that view for as long as I would have looked in mirrors and then flick it back until I would again use them. If you move your head down and a little right as you select the external view and the back to the normal position as you flick the switch up, then this replicates what you would have done in reality. As you get near the drop site, just as you would in the real world - spend more time in the external view.
It is surprising just how quickly you get used to this technique. It is only a mental adjustment to supplant the sim technique (view) to the real view.
It is the only way I have worked out how to make USL work in the sim as enjoyable and accurate as the real thing. However, I would love to know if anyone has worked out a better technique.
I hope this helps
